Cabrillo Whalewatch Training Program
Each winter gray whales migrate along the western coastline of the United States to the lagoons of Baja Mexico. ACS-LA is committed to educating people about these great creatures.
Sponsored in collaboration with the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, ACS-LA trains volunteers (college age and up) as naturalists to accompany whale watching adventures on boats that departing from local landings, primarily December 26 through April, educating the public about the whales, dolphins, and marine life that live off our coast. Naturalists also may be given the opportunity to make presentations in classrooms and to groups.
Training classes begin yearly on the first Tuesday of October at 7pm at the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium’s John M. Olguin Auditorium and continue every Tuesday through March. The classes are approximately two hours in duration and are free. No prior experience is necessary, all training will be provided. No need to sign up, just show up either the first or second Tuesday of the program to see if it’s for you and to register!
